Construction Update

Alright, so I thought it was time to update all of you following the construction going on in our basement. As you can tell, the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom is up again and drywalled. We’ve got the ceiling strapped, fan installed, and ready for gyprock. But by far, the best news so far, is that the shower stall construction has started! The new base is roughed up, it needs to have the plumbing hooked up and then we’ll be ready for priming and sealing. Big thanks to Jason and his mad skil saw skills for cutting all the neo angles for the shower base. Additionally, the linoleum is now all gone from the floor and all of the walls are framed.

What’s next? Well, the shower stall needs to be primed and sealed, the shower base levelled, the heat vent refabricated, and then we can start to sheet the ceiling. After that, it will be time for new flooring and then all that will remain is sheeting the walls and mudding and taping the drywall seams.

It’s really starting to come together now with lots of progress each and every time we work on it. In other news, the baby watch still continues. As always stay tuned to the site for updates in that area. Take care, until next time!

Baby Homestretch

So today was our Week 34 baby checkup (for those keeping track, that means 6 more weeks until the big day!). It really is interesting how quickly the time has gone by and a little scary that we are THAT close to our new addition! I remember it seeming so far away shortly after we first found out, and now we’re 6 weeks away…

Anyway, doctor is happy and everyone is healthy and doing fine. Tomorrow, it’s off to pre-natal classes at night (again for those keeping score, this is class #2) which should start to outline just what will be happening when the baby decides it’s time.

I think that’s all for now. Website-wise, you’ll notice that we are fully syndicating Jason & Kara’s blog, jasonandkara.com, so feel free to click over and see what’s new and happening with them. Jason has posted a neat video montage of his/our fishing exploits set to banjo music. So if you like fishing, or banjo music, head on over and check it out!

Later all!

Fishing – February 5th

Saturday February 5th saw my return to the world of ice fishing. This day meant Jason, his buddy Kevin, and I heading out to Blackstrap for a morning of fishing good times. It was a beautiful day for fishing, and with an ice shack at our disposal, we were on our way to a great day. Unfortunately, the fish had their own ideas. It appeared we’d be heading home empty handed until we noticed one of the jack tip-ups, had a nibble. Kevin reeled it up, to find a 3lbs jack.

So for this adventure at least, the fish seem to have had our number. Next time: different story!
